PROJECT OF THE MONTH
Almost everyone, down to the youngest child, knows that one should protect oneself from the sun when on holiday. This project clearly illustrates that this is not confined to the beach alone, but the hotel as well. We were able to supply solar protection systems to the Falkensteiner hotel chain for the hotel complex "Hotels & Residences Punta Skala“ in Zadar/Croatia. During the course of handling this order, the first priority was to find a suitable model as well as optimum fitting method. With the integrated project management including the technical department for supporting the architects, the solution to fulfil the customer's requirements was worked out using CAD and adapted to the customer's specifications as the project progressed. The finally chosen model Sys A is a typical hinged shutter, but is frequently used as a sliding and bi-fold sliding shutter. The specification called for the model to blend with the modern architecture, whilst at the same time providing adequate solar protection. The design of the Model Sys A shutter elements provides optimal privacy from the exterior, keeping heat and solar radiation out too, whilst still allowing a certain amount of light into the interior. In addition, the model Sys A impresses with the proven 70 x 30 mm frame as well as 50 x 6 mm lamellae, which are bonded to the frame even more strongly using an additional coating. Following selection of the model, the most suitable fitting variants and configurations for differing areas of the building were clarified. Consequently, hinged shutters were used as well as sliding bi-fold shutters. A particular highlight to enable the elements to be assembled onto a steel frame on site was the fitting of special hardware. This meant precise preassembly of all hardware to the shutters so that the customer's installation could be carried out on site in a significantly shorter time.
