PROJECT OF THE MONTH - Project name: P15 Convention- Location: Paris, France - Number of elements: Shutters - Type of shutter: Sliding shutter - Model: Model S + SL - Initial contact: 2008 - Implementation: Supplied 2009 The desire to create a unique style of facade by using sliding shutters in front of it, could be fulfilled to perfection with this project. As a result of the extremely large facade area dictated by the main body of the building, large sliding elements were obviously required here as well. This was only one of the challenges that AST engineering staff had to overcome. However, as has so often been the case, early collaboration between architect, installation company and AST was instrumental in ensuring optimum and trouble-free implementation. This started with the solution incorporating extra-large sliding shutters of up to 5m2 and continued through to the special hardware necessary for such extra-large shutters. The units are installed in a frontal position which, contrary to the usual installation, enables them to be moved across the complete width directly in front of the window element. This is made even easier with the flush pulls pre-fitted by AST. Both the Model S and Model SL were utilized. The necessary stability was provided by the extruded aluminium profile frame 70 x 30 mm. In addition, the special perforation which enables specific elements to provide a certain incidence of light, could be completely adapted to the customer's requirements. In order to significantly simplify installation on site, practically all track and shutter elements were marked with the customer's location number in addition to pre-assembly of all hardware. Thus innumerable installation hours could be saved for the customer and simple and rapid installation facilitated.
